Sometimes a series will have multiple versions, such as HD Black, Quick-Dry Black, etc. Internally, risographs distinguish between [[Black]] in drums and all drums of other colors—which results in slightly different printing behavior with [[Black]] ink. Risographs have been able to distinguish between cartridges (tubes) of [[Black]] ink vs. color inks, at least as far back as the {{machine chip|RA}} line. * Risograph models {{machine chip|GR}}{{machine chip|FR}}{{machine chip|RP}}{{machine chip|RN}} use a physical tab protruding from the head of the ink cartridge, which pushes a different switch inside the drum for a [[Black]] ink tube than a color one.
