&soWalter (usw.) is a small printing studio and publishing practice established in 2015 by Benjamin Hickethier. Dealing with mechanical reproduction of artworks, it seemed appropriate to name the studio after Walter Benjamin, in deep respect.

&soWalter is exploring the relationship between self-publishing and self-empowerment. Most of USW.press’ work is self-initiated, realised in-between commissions for other artists/designers/humans, for clients/collaborators and for research projects/objects. Other activities include facilitating and organising of riso-oriented workshops, teaching/learning/unlearning as well as inviting people to print sessions.

&soWalter is part of the coworking space Consulatet (together with silk screen printing artist Drid Machine and others). Together with Anki from Pamflett and Bergen Art Book Fair, and Jessica from Hverdag Books, Benjamin from &soWalter founded Norsk Risoforening (Norwegian Riso Association) in 2018.
