Risographs can be switched between imperial measurements (inches) and metric measurements (mm), and will ship with one or the other enabled by default, depending on the region. Internally though, all risographs are using metric—and simply display rounded approximations of imperial equivalents.
Many operators switch their machines into metric mode, because it results in more accurate print positioning.
Rounding algorithm
When in imperial mode, the risograph will round measurements to the nearest 64th of an inch, and display the rounded value. This is most apparent when adjusting print position. Each button click moves the printed image 0.5 mm, but when rounded to imperial, it appears as though the increments are jumping.

Switching to metric
The metric/inch switch is sometimes in user settings which are not documented in the service manual, but in the user manual. The means of changing this setting is different for different models.
Touch screen Z+ machines
- Tap the "Admin" tab from the regular printing screen and "OK" to get through the warning screen.
- Some machines have the admin section locked with a pin code.
- Tap the right arrow key at the bottom of the screen to go to the second page of options, which should list the "Metric/Inch Switch" (it may be on a different page for some models).
- Tap "Metric/Inch Switch" to switch between the two modes.
- Use the exit button at the top right corner of the screen to return to the main screen, and save the new settings.
