Contemporary ink tubes (used from the
onwards) use an RFID sticker on the end of the tube to record basic ink information (color, type, volume remaining, expiration date, etc.). Each drum holds matching values so that it can recognize the tube—and notify the operator if the wrong tube is inserted in the drum.
However, there's many situations in which you might need to reprogram a drum to recognize a different ink tube (for example when transitioning a drum)—this tutorial walks through some different procedures and values you may need to reference.
Drum reprogramming
Drums can be reprogrammed in two ways:
1. Automatically, using the ink code copy function in test mode.
2. Manually, by changing the drum's color values by hand.
