Interval Mode

Interval mode allows the drum to spin a set number of times between each print pass. Interval printing is designed to reduce the offsetting of ink from one paper to another in the exit tray. (Where offsetting refers to when wet ink from one sheet smears or transfers onto the back of the next printed sheet.)

How to turn on interval printing

Interval feature is only available on some risograph machines. Many touch screens have it, and in general most analog interface machines do not.

  1. On the touch screen, select Interval in the Functions tab.
  2. Select ON
  3. Choose the number for Skip Rotation using the Up/Down keys or entering a number via the numeric keypad. Press C for clear to return the number to 1.
  4. Touch OK to exit the screen and save your setting.

Uses for interval printing

  • Inky prints - allows more time to exit the machine, and also more consistent ink coverage: because the drum spins without printing between fed sheets of paper, it can re-ink itself in that interval.
  • Printing on extra long or thick paper, to allow the paper to clear the sensors and exit belts.
  • Allowing extra time for the operator to hand-feed a slip sheet between each sheet. of paper as it goes into the exit tray
  • Allowing extra time for the operator to visually check registration between passes.
