Stencil:Roadmap
This page is a way to outline + plan what's coming next for this wiki. It is primarily used internally among the developers and active editors of this project (acting as a broad to-do list), but can be shared publicly to share what's in the pipeline.
Architecture
Area | Title | Description | Status | Launch (Goal) | Lead |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
(All) | Style PageForms | PageForms are largely unstyled and unresponsive, they need to have better styles applied to them, both to improve readability and match existing site design standards. | On-deck | TBD | User:George Wietor |
Places | Document form | Populate detailed information about using Form:Place onto Help:Using the place form. Link this help page onto the form itself and add light information (e.g. tooltips + descriptions) into the form itself. Also build out the form page before a place is selected. | On-deck | 1/24/25 | User:Robertbaxter |
Places | Update form inputs | Based on the walkthrough at the riso gathering in Milwaukee (Jan. 2025) I want to update some field types to make them a little easier to parse (dropdowns + radios instead of comboboxes, etc.). | On-deck | 1/24/25 | User:Robertbaxter |
Places | Help/info in footer | Link the places help page(s) into the footer (or other nav bar) on places pages. | TBD | ||
Events | Finalize instance definition | All upcoming events and new events added will use the instance model (past events may still be on the legacy model)—need to make sure that the field defintions for instances are robust/final. | In-progress | 8/24/25 | User:Robertbaxter |
Events | Resolve conflicts between old events + instances | For the time being (until migration is complete) past events will not be stored in instances, however they must still exist as event pages. The Form:Event and Template:Event both have to be written to support both of these structures. | In-progress | 8/24/25 | User:Robertbaxter |
Events | Re-import past events | Depending on how the conflict between old events/instance is resolved, we may need to re-import events (might be unnecessary though). | On-deck | 8/24/25 | |
Events | Switch event list to instances | Change the upcoming event listing on Events to pull from instances. | On-deck | 1/24/25 | |
Events | Update upcoming events to instances | Update all upcoming events to use instances. | On-deck | 1/24/25 | |
Events | Update 'all' events to instances | Update all past events to the instance model as well—includingconsolidating repeating events onto a single page. | On-deck | TBD |
Resources
Multiple resource pages need to be migrated from the old wiki along with resources that Anemone and Robert Baxter will shift from personal blogs + notes + threads into pages on here. Many of these will take the form of Category:Tutorials but there might be other resource types as well.
Title | Type | Description | Source | Status |
---|---|---|---|---|
Moving a two-drum Risograph | Tutorial | A how to for moving 2-drum machines (especially securing the MMU)—also includes instructions for disassembling a Riso to decrease its weight for stairs. | [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] | Draft |
Fix thermal-pressure motor lock | Tutorial | Instructions for swapping out the TPH gear on Z+ machines—this article is being adapted from an article written by Martin (RISOFORT) for the old wiki which focused on two-drum machines. | [6] | Draft |
Reprogramming a drum color | Tutorial | Original is "Riso MZ - Ink Color Codes," written as a tutorial on reprogramming a drum—I think we generalize this and extend past MZ, with a table with codes for all models. | [7] | |
Ink tube adaptation for older Risographs | Tutorial | From "3d Printable Tab to use E series ink in GR machines" + "
How-to: Transfer Ink from one tube to another"—generalize and include the tube transfer method as a section? |
[8] [9] | |
GR/FR drum cleaning | Tutorial | Consolidating and expanding multiple partial articles from the old wiki, but splitting into different types of drums (as that's the functional difference point). I think this should pair with a Transitioning a drum which has a section for the forced transition and one for the cleaning approach, the latter of which links to these. | [10] [11] [12] [13] | |
Fine adjust mode | Info | Not really a tutorial as this mostly explains what fine adjust mode is (though it should explain how to enable it and go over which machines have it). | [14] | |
Master removal transport band replacement | Tutorial | How to replace the transport bands (o-rings) on Z+ machines. I think this should be generalized for all Z+ machines, with some extra notes on the slightly different procedure for the paper ejection side of the MZ. It should also include sizing notes for replacing these with generic o-rings. The RP/RN band procedure is significantly different but it could also be folded into a section of this page, or as a separate Replacing the master removal transport bands (RP/RN). | [15] | |
Connecting an RP to Mac OS X | Tutorial | This page is a tutorial, but could potentially just live on the RP main page. | [16] | |
Realigning the MMU on a two-drum Risograph | Tutorial | This is a very good guide of the simple way to do this (without fully removing the MMU), but is currently locked into images with the text included in them. | [17] | |
Manual drum removal | Tutorial | The original is partial instructions for manually unlocking a drum from an RP (which is more complex process than all other models). We can generalize this to just manually unlocking a drum, with sections for the 3 main different types of machines, along with a big disclaimer above that this should be done carefully, because there's a chance that your drum is stuck on something, and forcing it out will damage it (the full instructions for which deserve their own article—maybe Drum extraction). | [18] |
